Americans for the Arts is honored to have a distinguished group of artists who serve on our Artists Committee. The Americans for the Arts Artists Committee is an advisory group consisting of accomplished artists from all disciplines who lend their name and time to a variety of our programs on an ad hoc basis to advance the arts and arts education in America. The Artists Committee includes artists who excel in their respective art forms, have gained national recognition for their work, and proactively advocate for the arts and arts education. Artists who partner with Americans for the Arts may help in a number of ways: testify to Congress on behalf of the arts, serve as a spokesperson for a national arts visibility campaign, participate in national arts policy meetings, present awards for arts leadership, or communicate the importance of the arts and arts education through social media channels and campaigns. Participation is voluntary on the part of the artist and inclusion is at the discretion of Americans for the Arts. Americans for the Arts thanks the members of the Artists Committee for their continued commitment, support and enthusiasm as we join continue to advance the arts in America.

"I am proud to shine a spotlight on the necessity of public funding for arts education. The arts teach discipline, teamwork and creativity, which are the exact skills needed to succeed in the workforce. I am pleased to join Americans for the Arts to support this important cause."

- Ben Folds

"I believe that exposure to the arts in children’s and young adult’s lives help shape and change them for the better. I can speak from personal experience, and when I look around and recognize the sobering reality that these are the exact programs that are being cut from our schools and disappearing from our communities at a drastic rate, I am more determined than ever to drive my philanthropic efforts in this direction. I am honored and privileged to be able to give back in this way, and I look forward to the journey ahead as we work to help give so many the chance to find their light."

- Josh Groban

"To Americans for the Arts, my gratitude for your tireless and effective advocacy on behalf of art and all that comes with it—you truly make a difference and we're all the better for it."

- Robert Redford

"I was a very lucky child. My love for the arts was fostered in school, in community arts programs and at various NY theaters and arts institutions," said Ms. Washington. "But not all kids are that lucky. That’s why I support Americans for the Arts…. Together we are working to ensure that EVERY SINGLE PERSON has the opportunity to experience an arts education in America."

- Kerry Washington
